Education
Workshops in plain language on heart disease in pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, stress and postpartum heart health — for mothers and for the people around them.
Home / Mission & Vision
Everything Heart for Moms Inc does has to trace back to one of these two statements. If a project cannot be tied to the mission, we do not run it. If it does not move us closer to the vision, it waits.
Our mission
To improve the health and well-being of pregnant women by preventing pregnancy-related heart disease through education, early screening, access to quality healthcare, community support, and advocacy.
Five commitments, in the order we work through them. The first two happen in a community hall or a clinic room. The last three decide whether what we find there actually changes anything.
Workshops in plain language on heart disease in pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, stress and postpartum heart health — for mothers and for the people around them.
Blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes risk, BMI, family history and lifestyle — checked early enough that a finding is still a warning and not an emergency.
A result is only useful if it reaches a clinician. We help mothers get to care, prepare for the appointment, and be taken seriously once they are in the room.
Partners, mothers, aunties, church groups and neighbours. The people who notice the swelling first, and the ones who can insist she gets it checked.
Carrying what we see at screening days to the places where maternal health decisions are made, so the gaps get closed and not just counted.
Screening without education is a number. Education without access is advice. The mission only works whole.
Our vision
A future where every pregnant woman has access to the knowledge, resources, and healthcare needed to prevent cardiovascular disease and experience a healthy pregnancy.
How we work
The mission says what we do. These say how it has to feel for the mother sitting in front of us.
If a mother cannot repeat her result to her husband or her doctor in her own words, we have not finished explaining it.
Shame keeps women away from screening. Numbers get read out as information, never as a verdict on how she has lived.
The heart stays at risk long after delivery. Support does not stop at the birth, and neither does our contact list.
Churches, community centres, clinics and workplaces across Florida. We do not wait for her to find us and take a day off to do it.

Screening days and workshops are where the mission stops being a sentence.
